Our Pastor

Father Jose K. Jacob, SMM
Greetings,
My name is Fr. Jose K. Jacob SMM, D. Min. I was appointed pastor of this parish and took charge on June 25, 2014. For those of you who are new to the parish, let me introduce myself.

I was born into a devoted Catholic Family in the State of Kerala in India as the fourth child, on the feast of Ascension on the 15th of May 1958. I have 5 sisters and 4 brothers and grew up in a natural rubber plantation region. I left home to join the minor seminary at the very early age of 14 and did most of my formation and priestly studies in Bangalore, India. I made my first profession as a member of the Montfort Missionaries on the 31st of May 1980 and was ordained a priest on my birthday in 1986. Two of my sisters also have given their life to the Church as religious and are serving in remote areas of India.

My first 9 years of priesthood were served in India having administrative duties and financial responsibilities and assisting in the formation of Montfortian seminarians. Then in 1995 I responded to the call to be a missionary in Papua New Guinea and worked there as Diocesan Financial Administrator and Pastor of the town parish until I came to the USA in 2000 to do my Masters in Theology. On completion of my degree I returned to the mission and came back to St. Louis, accepting an offer of scholarship for the Doctoral Degree in 2005. While pursuing the doctoral program, I was also the pastor of a small country parish, St. Patrick‚Äôs, Tipton in the diocese of Belleville in IL, close to St. Louis. On completion of the doctorate I was assigned to The Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Manorville where I worked from 2011 to this present assignment as pastor.

If you are new to the missionary activity of the Catholic Church, our mission in Papua New Guinea provides a great example of tireless dedication and long standing commitment of the missionaries. You can visit our website: www.missionfrontier.org to have a glimpse of the outstanding missionary work. The Shrine of Our Lady of the Island, located within our parish geographical area, provides a delightful and serene natural worship setting for anyone who wants to spend some time of quiet and peace. You can visit their website at www.ourladyoftheisland.org

Again, welcome to our parish family. Contact us if there is any way we can minister to you.
May the peace of God reign in your heart and may you share it with those you relate to.
Saints Peter and Paul pray for us,
Fr. Jose K. Jacob SMM
